The Congress Plaza Hotel Overview
The historic Congress Plaza Hotel and Convention Center provides a dazzling backdrop in the heart of downtown Chicago adjacent to Grant Park. Long considered one of the most magnificent banquet rooms in America, the Gold Room was restored in 1997 to its original splendor by Italian artist Lido Lippi, known for his work in the Sistine Chapel restoration. The shimmering gold leaf that adorns every corner of the room gives The Gold Room its moniker. With broad walls and an arched ceiling raised fifty feet above the floor, the room is rich with Italian Renaissance style and splendor.
